HOW TO CREATE A GIF

These are the guidelines to create an animated gif related to an aspect of the English culture to post on your blog:

There are many options: The GIMP,  Unfreez or Gifmaker (http://gifmaker.me)

• You must choose same sized images to obtain a uniform result. 

• Once you have selected the images, just select the order of appearance and the animation speed.

• Finally, save the file as gif format.

DIALOGUE

-ASSISTANT: Good afternoon, customer support, Tom speaking.

-ASSISTANT: Certainly. Firstly, can I take your name, please?
-DEBBIE: Debbie Sherbourne.
-ASSISTANT: Would you mind spelling your surname for me?
-DEBBIE: Sure. S-H-E-R-B-O-U-R-N-E
-ASSISTANT: Thank you Ms. Sherbourne. How can I help you with your phone?
-DEBBIE: Well, I've already charged the battery and I have switched it on, but I can't get on the Internet. Can you explain how to do this, please?
-ASSISTANT: Of course. Let me put you through to a technician who will be able to explain this to you.
-DEBBIE: OK, That's great. Thank you very much for your help.
-ASSISTANT: You're welcome. Good bye.

ENGLISH AND GEOGRAPHY PROJECT




GUIDELINES:
  • Make pairs.
  • Choose one city of an English-speaking country and write a comment on your      teacher´s blog saying the city you have chosen and the student's name you are going to work with.
  • Title the project.
  • Create a PREZI or a POWER POINT presentation (a video about some aspects of the city can be included) with the following sections:
  1. A short historical introduction of the city and the historical transformation: monuments, highlights...
  2. Country and continent where the city is located.
  3. Hemisphere and relation to the equator, prime meridian and tropic lines.
  4. Distance from your home town.
  5. Time zone.
  6. Population (social groups, important people, main features, problems, main activities...) and area city (habitats, types of cities...)
  7. Current season and what seasons are like.
  8. Ecosystem and climate.
  9. Environmental issues.
  10. Bibliography.    
REMEMBER:
  • AVOID LONG AND BORING PARAGRAPHS.
  • ADD HELPFUL WEBSITES AT THE END OF THE PROJECT.
  • POST YOUR PROJECT ON YOUR OWN BLOG/PORTFOLIO.
  • SEND THE PROJECT TO YOUR GEOGRAPHY AND ENGLISH TEACHERS.
  • YOUR PRESENTATION WILL BE HELD IN THE GEOGRAPHY AND ENGLISH CLASSES.
  • WE WILL ASSESS YOUR ORAL SKILLS, INTERACTION, FLUENCY, ORIGINALITY, CREATIVITY, THE USE OF SPECIFIC GEOGRAPHY VOCABULARY, WRITING SKILLS, DIGITAL COMPETENCE, YOUR MANNER OF PRESENTATION AND OF COURSE,THE GEOGRAPHY AND HISTORY CONTENTS.

DEADLINE: 23rd. FEBRUARY.

FIRST TERM BLOG TASKS

The First Term is almost over and there are some tasks you should have done:
  • A wordcloud.
  • A post about some rules.
  • Glossaries of new vocabulary of units 0/1/2.
  • Storytelling: a post about the story you chose, a comment about the project and  an audio.
  • A post about Ireland and an image or a video related to Ireland.
  • If you haven't done these tasks, UPDATE YOUR BLOG-PORTFOLIOS.
  • Finally, write a paragraph in your blog-portfolios including your SELF-ASSESSMENT.


  • What can I do that I couldn't do before?
  • What did I like most?
  • What did I do well?
  • What did I do in English outside the class?
  • What do I need to improve?
  • What did I learn about culture?
