2015-16

Welcome back to school!!!!! This year is going to be a new English adventure. To take advantage of this experience you should be ready to work hard and enjoy the subject.

NEW PROJECT: A description of a place

In this project you will have to describe an important landmark or building in an English-speaking country (UK, USA, Australia...).

Follow these steps:

1. Work in pairs, each of you has to describe a famous landmark. 

2. Look for the information on the Internet and tell us the most important: name of the landmark, where it is, who built it, when it was built, what it is for, if it can be visited...

3. Use some of the adjectives to describe places and put into practice what you have learnt.

4. Try to memorize it and explain it easily for your classmates. Use the blackboard if you need it to write dates or names.

5. Use simple and short sentences. 

6. Your fluency and pronunciation will be evaluated. 

7. Deadline of the project: 8th. May.

You will begin the project in class using the laptops. Ask me any questions you have.

         A NEW PROJECT: THE ENGLISH WEEK

This project has to be with our trip to Ramsgate from 15th. February to 22nd. February 2015.

 Follow these steps:
1. Work with the classmate you are going to stay in the English family.
2. Take as many photos as possible during "the English Week".
3. Choose one of the topics below for the presentation.
4. You have to open an account on this site: www.voicethread.com
5. You must create a presentation with 8-10 pictures in which you should describe each picture and the best memories of this experience recording your presentation in a video or microphone that "voicethread" has to be used.
6. You have to share your presentation with your teacher and classmates clicking "share".
7. There are different possibilities of recording your presentation. Choose the one you like most and don't forget when you finish click on "save".
- Deadline of the presentation: 5th. March 2015.

- Your host family, the house and your bedroom.
- The food (breakfast, lunch, dinner and the timetable).
- The school, the lessons and the teachers.
- The day in London.
- Afternoon and evening activities.
- The whole trip.

CHOOSE A CHARACTER  YOU LIKE TO WRITE ABOUT.

This project has to be done in pairs ( the ones I have told you). Make a powerpoint presentation. You cannot write, try to learn it.

In your textbook there are some examples: you can read about Madonna, Charles Chaplin,Miguel de Cervantes, Obama and Pocahontas.

                             

                      A PHOTO DESCRIPTION

In this new project you have to put into practise everything you have learnt to describe pictures.

1. This project must be done individually.
2. Choose one of your favourite photos and scan it.
3. Bring the photo in your pendrive to show it to your classmates on the digital board.
4. Describe it as complete as possible answering the following questions:
     - when and where was the photo taken?
     - who are the people?
     - what are they doing?
     - what are they wearing?
     - Other information
5. The deadline of the project is: 24th. November.

I want you to read about some man-made wonders on page 130 of your student's book. You can read about: The Opera House, The Voortrekker Monument, The Statue of Liberty and The Shri Swaminarayan Mandir Temple. I'm going to ask you some questions about them.

                   GUY FAWKES  NIGHT

It is an annual commemoration on November 5th, primarily in Great Britain. It is also known as Guy Fawkes Day or Bonfire night.
